Book Proposal: Mini Mod

In exploring my passion for midcentury furniture, I created this book proposal as a craft book that is also a guide to appreciating modern furniture design. Highlighting the 25 most iconic pieces to come out of the 1950s and 1960s, my proposed book shows how to make tiny replicas that will ultimately furnish a fabulous dream house. First, the real furniture is shown in drool-worthy rooms accompanied by a brief back story on the designer and the origin of the creation. Next, step-by-step instructions show how to make the pieces in miniature, and just as Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames used innovative materials and manufacturing techniques, the miniature version is crafted using things one might have laying around the house or in the trash. The best part about making each piece? An intimate connection to the designer and an even greater appreciation of the form, construction, freshness, and fun so ingrained in the midcentury modern style.
